Dev Log 3 from Nat

During this week the team and I needed to work on a digital prototype that exhibits our core mechanics. During class we watched videos to get us better familiarized with the unity program to make the prototype. We also need to add more to our game design macro. We completed a good part of it, but now need to add an assets page.  Over the week , I was able to watch the tutorials but was having trouble executing it on unity. My biggest difficulty is learning the C# code needed to make the game function. From one video to several, I spent a lot of time trying to find the appropriate videos that pertained to what I needed to start off. Unfortunately, I was unable to truly dedicate the time to study the material and play around with unity to familiarize myself with it.  Reaching out to my professor, she mentioned another application that we could use that has the basic core mechanics of our game called GDevelop. Given that it was already late in the evening, I woke up early to study the videos and was able to scrap up something together and I was able to figure out how to make the character jump. So I think its safe to say that I will be switching from Unity to GDevelop. So for this week I will be playing around with GDevelop and try to make one complete level and ask my teammates to also make a level themselves. That way we have at least 3 levels. Once we get the hang of the program, we can continue adding more features.  I was unable to conduct a playtest this week due to not having a working prototype. I do hope that won't be the case for next week because I will definitely start working harder because we are in the important weeks of class. The PRODUCTION weeks! So wish me luck theres a storm a brewin'
